Today I’m posting random shots from my past travels in Cinque Terre, Italy, translated to “Five Lands” in English, this is due to the fact that it’s made up of five lands, I guess someone couldn’t have been bothered to give it another name, though it does sound good in Italian.

The five lands that make this wonderful region are Monterosso al Mare,┬áVernazza,┬áCorniglia,┬áManarola and Riomaggiore. My wife and I stayed in Monterosso and enjoyed the little beach that was situated here with the large rock that I conquered. We also spent some time in Vernazza, Manarola and Riomaggiore and if my memory serves me correctly, you can hike from one town to the next, though my wife and I chose only to do the easiest walk from Riomaggiore to Manarola also known as the “Love Walk”, why, because we’d rather spend more time seeing some sites rather than rummaging through the bush with the short time we had in this region.

These were taken before I was into photography so I apologize that they are not up to my standards, meaning I will have to go back and do this again.

To begin, the shot below is the large rock I was telling you about in Monterosso, that’s me up top and not a weird pelican.

Taking a short stroll from our hotel we spotted this waterhole, for some reason it made me take a picture.

I enjoyed watching this colourful train pass by. Came out of no where as I did not expect a train to ride through the middle of town.

The beginning of the “Love Walk” trail.

Enjoyed the bruschetta we had mid way along the Love Walk.

Spent most of a day just sitting on the rocks in Vernazza above the jetty watching the locals go about their daily business. I made my wife walk up the hill just to take this picture, it was worth it just for the view alone.

We also spend some time sitting on the rocks in Riomaggiore, just taking it all in.

After some of the hills we walked up, it was good to finally look at our decent, but we still had a lot of work to do to get to the station below.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them. I have a whole lot more except my head is in it, sticking to my policy of remaining anonymous. I was pushing the boundaries on the first picture, maybe I’m caving in. Anyhow, until next time.

Rolling through my pictures from my past travels in Europe, I stumbled upon this picture which made me laugh as it has a little story attached to it.

My wife and I whilst in Paris arrived at our 1 star hotel, checked in, and with our backpacks on our backs and front, was guided to the lift that would take us to our rooms. When the door to the lift opened, we saw the smallest lift in the world, my wife and I starred blankly at each other and than the hotel receptionist, he also had a blank look as if he was saying, “Well you can go to your room now”. So I shrugged my shoulders while looking at my wife and walked in, she was giggling at me as I couldn’t even fit in with my bags on. I had to reverse out backwards and the hotel receptionist said “Leave your bag here and go up, I will send up your bags, than your wife. Normally I would say ladies first to allow my wife to go, but I thought I’d better check if this contraption went anywhere safe. It did and after the lift door opened, I reversed into a room that was the similar size to the lift with a door on either side, one was our room and the other for another hotel guest. I opened the door to our room and had a quick peek when suddenly I heard a “ding” from the lift and the doors opened and it was my bag, I said “Hello bag, glad you could make it” and threw it into the room. Another minute had passed, “ding”, my wife’s bags had arrived. I was now hoping my wife arrived next, or perhaps an exotic French maid to clean our room. Finally the last “ding” sound from the lift and it was my wonderful wife with a big smile on her face. We laughed and went inside our room which we could gladly both fit into. I love traveling in Europe.

Hi all, hope all is well. It’s 7:26 in the morning here and I am the only one awake at home, I’m wearing pants and have the fan on keeping me cool.

I got the new iPhone 4S two days ago and thought I would post some random images I took as I was very impressed with the picture quality.

This first shot was taken at a local cafe, I wanted to eat all of these cakes and desserts, but instead all I had was a coffee, a long black to be more specific. The others include a random number on a wall, a new canvas picture of Paris I bought to hang at home, and my growing magnet collection in my fridge of places either I have been to, or friends have gotten for me as souvenir gifts.

I thought to be a good photographer, I should be able to take a picture of anything anywhere, so here are my attempts.
